Frequently Asked Questions
Homeowners across Orlando ask us plenty of good questions before they commit to new window coverings. We pulled together the ones that come up most, covering our process, our products, and what makes working with us different.
Questions About Our Window Treatment Store and Service Area
Where are you located, and which communities do you serve?
We are based in Orlando and cover Central Florida, including Winter Garden, Minneola, Clermont, Groveland, Apopka, and The Villages. Our window treatment store travels with us. Rather than asking you to drive to a showroom and squint at samples under fluorescent lighting, we bring a mobile design studio holding thousands of samples straight to your living room.
How do I schedule a consultation?
Call (407) 583-9777 or send an inquiry through our website. We work around your schedule and show up when we say we will. The in-home consultation costs you nothing.
What to Expect From a Hunter Douglas Dealer Like Us
How long have you been in business?
Douglas and Maria opened the company in 2006 and have kept it small on purpose. Over 20 years of window covering experience informs every recommendation we make. The company is woman-owned, veteran-owned, and family-operated.
What happens during the appointment?
We bring samples to your windows so you can hold fabrics against your actual glass, your paint color, and your furniture. Our software lets us render a room setting with your exact wall color, whether that came from Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, BEHR, or another manufacturer. You see the result before you order anything.
Products Available at Our Hunter Douglas Store
Which brands do you carry?
We are an authorized Hunter Douglas dealer and a Somfy partner. We also carry REGALIA, our private label collection of fabrics sourced from premier textile manufacturers, available in zebra shades, roller shades, Shangri-La shades, and cellular shades. REGALIA patterns are exclusive to us in Central Florida.
What product categories are available?
Our highly rated Hunter Douglas store offers shades, shutters, wood and faux wood blinds, and motorized systems. Our shade lineup includes cellular, roller, solar, Roman, woven wood, sheer, and zebra styles. Plantation shutters are available in wood, composite, and hybrid materials, built for Florida heat and humidity. Drapery, verticals, aluminum blinds, and Carole Fabrics are not part of what we carry.
Choosing Custom Window Treatments in Florida
Which window coverings hold up best in the Florida climate?
Sun exposure here runs hard year-round, and west-facing rooms take a beating from afternoon glare. Solar shades and cellular shades handle UV and heat gain well, and cellular construction adds an insulating air pocket that helps with cooling costs. Composite and hybrid shutters resist humidity fluctuations that can warp less durable materials.
When should I start planning custom window treatments?
Sooner works better than later, especially if you are building or renovating. Custom pieces are manufactured to your measurements, so ordering early keeps your timeline comfortable. Homeowners furnishing a new build often bring us in during the paint stage so we can coordinate fabrics with wall colors.
Motorization and Smart Window Treatment Solutions
Do motorized shades work with my smart home setup?
Yes. Our motorized window treatment solutions integrate with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, Siri, and Control4. We install and program these motorized window treatment systems, and we can create scenes that move multiple windows with a single command or run them on a sunrise schedule.
Which wireless protocol should I choose?
Matter is the newest universal standard, connecting over Wi-Fi or Thread with native support across Apple, Google, and Alexa. Zigbee is a proven mesh protocol favored in larger homes and in Control4 environments, and it grows stronger with each device you add. We install with each protocol and help you pick based on your home and your existing technology.
About Our Window Treatment Company
What sets you apart from other companies in Orlando?
Douglas and Maria handle your project personally, from the first phone call through final installation. Larger operations in this market rely on subcontractors, so the person who measures your windows may be a stranger to the person who installs them. That hand-off never happens with us. Douglas is a US Navy veteran, an engineer, and a Hunter Douglas Certified Professional Installer, and he holds his work to standards he learned in 1983.
Do you source American-made products?
We supply as many US-manufactured products as possible, provided they meet our quality standards. Our window treatment ideas start with materials we would put in our own home.
